General: Development, synthesis, characterization of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) for medical applications in drug delivery and diagnostics.

- Magnetic drug targeting in oncology.

- Gene therapy using SPIONs (DFG funding with Tel-Aviv University in Israel)
- Effect enhancement by SPIONs for radiotherapy
- Pathogen extraction, sepsis diagnosis and treatment (funded by: Dr. Robert Pfleger Foundation)
