The medical faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Alexiou successfully participated in the competitive selection process for the W3 endowed professorship for Nanomedicine of the Else-Kroener-Fresenius foundation. Since 1st July 2009 Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Alexiou holds the Else-Kroener-Fresenius endowed professorship at the ENT-department and head-, and neck surgery at the university hospital of Erlangen. In this capacity he works both as senior clinical surgeron at the ENT-department and as head of the Section of Experimental Oncology and Nanomedicine (SEON).

The Section of Experimental Oncology and Nanomedicine is working interdisciplinary in the translation of the application of magnetic nanoparticles from the laboratory to the clinic (>> from bench to bedside<<) and is engaged in the following scientific topics:

Furthermore SEON offers analytical services and toxicological investigations to the industry and to external partners.
