Cell culture/Molecular biology

Cell culture laboratory equipped with several CO2 incubators, laminar airflow clean benches, centrifuges etc.

Inverted Mikroscope Axiovert 40 (Zeiss)

for transmitted light, phase contrast, DAPI and FITC fluorescence

Innova 42 Incubator shaker (New Brunswick Scientific)

ProXima AQ-4.2 Imager (Isogen Life Science)

A high-performance documentation system for chemiluminescense, bioluminescence, UV/VIS-fluorescense, densitometry of colorimetrically stained gels and blots

Gallios Flow Cytometer (Beckman Coulter)

Multi Carousel Loader, equipped with 3 Lasers: Excitation 488 nm (blue), 638 nm (red), 405 nm (violet); 10 Photomultipliers for emission 525/40 BP, 575/30 BP, 620/20 BP, 695/30 BP, 755 LP (in combination with blue laser); 675/20 BP, 725/20 BP, 755 LP (in combination with red laser); 430/40 BP, 550/40 BP (in combination with violet laser) and Kaluza analysis software

Live Cell Imaging Unit

Microscope „Axio Observer“ from Zeiss
- Incubation chamber for live cell-imaging with temperature and
CO2 control
- High-resolution digital microscopy camera
- Possibility of confocal upgrade.

Muse Cell Analyzer (Merck Millipore)

This "mini- flowcytometer" is able to count the cells precisely as well as performing different assays like viability

IncuCyte (Essen BioScience)

IncuCyte enables observation and quantification of cell behavior over time by automatically gathering and analyzing images around the clock

Endothelizer® (VascuZell)

The Endothelizer® is a cell-seeding equipment which enables the user to coat the inner surface of tubular structures with vascular cells. Among its multiple applications, the Endothelizer® can be used to cover the inner surface of vascular grafts with endothelial cells to improve their biocompatibility, or to fabricate vascular tissue models for drug or implant screening experiments.

Histology

  • paraffin embedding station EG 1150H (Leica), equipped with microprocessor-based control. The large, heated working surface with integrated cooling spot has a paraffin drain as well as heated bowls for compartments for both embedding forms.
  • Rotational microtome RM 2255(Leica)
  • Cryostat MNT (Slee), a fully automated rotational microtome for frozen section histology that can be cooled down to -35°C within a short time. For sample preparation, 24 directly cooled preparation positions are available.
